Housekeeping Service

-I heard you use a housekeeping service. Can you tell me what is it like?

Simone: I have one lady. She’s been with us for 6 years. Every Friday, for 8 hours, she helps us cleaning the windows, washing the bathroom and so on. She helps with things so I that I don’t have to do them. In Brazil we pay housekeepers per day. You can tell what you want them to help with. Including preparing meals for the week or ironing clothes. It’s so flexible.

Using a housekeeping service is very common in Brazil. Because for working ladies, they don’t have time to do both working and taking care of house. It’s necessary.

It’s reasonable for my family. I need housekeeping help to go my classes. I pay for it so that I can have time to study 2 hours per day, instead of spending them cleaning the bathroom. Is it so different from Japanese women?

– I guess Japanese ladies feel more social pressure. If you are married, taking care of your family is the first priority and you are second or even last. Brazilian ladies look different from us.

Simone: I can also say Brazilian people live all in the moment. Enjoy all in the moment. Go out all the time. Cookies for everybody all the time. Find the time to have someone at your place all the time. We are open to everybody and there’s no way to say we are not happy. Always having someone to share a story or to go to a movie or to enjoy some coffee or to help… We are always with people. We are not alone. We don’t feel alone.

If you are my friend, you don’t need to be invited to come to my place. You just call me and say, “Hey, Simone, I’m going there, OK?” And I’d say ”OK! I’ll brew some coffee for us!” It’s not a problem if the house is not “prepared”, while my guest sits down on the sofa and watch TV, I will finish laundry and later we can enjoy together. There’s no secret. It’s fresh and cool to be this way.

– It might be something to learn from this country!

 Making things easier

Simone: We are always trying to make things easier. We don’t like to make everything complicated, like “I need to prepare myself to do something!” No! You don’t need to be prepared. You only need to be there!

This is my life. Brazilian life is this way. We try to be together all the time and try to see our friends and to hold everybody and to know everybody. Because this way it is easier to live.

The importance of having time for yourself

Simone: It’s frustrating if she can’t plan for the near future because she doesn’t have time to plan. It’s a frustrating feeling like “oh my God! My husband is even well for his career. And then my kids are going to their own homework and study abroad. But what I’m going to do?”She can’t plan because she doesn’t have time to plan because it’s not a priority. It feels empty while your kids study abroad.

So I hope that Japanese Society can understand that women can contribute a lot with the society. We can deal with a different situation and different issues.

And the planet needs the woman’s touch like the house things works properly because we can’t do the things just for money but for love. We do things become special. So it’s necessary for them to go out and to mix everybody.
